Vodka-fuelled girl sexually assaulted bus driver after he instructed her to relax
Siobhan Webb was travelling on a bus along the North Wales coast when she sexually assaulted the driver after being asked to calm down — and then spat at a police officer
A woman sexually assaulted a bus driver before spitting at a police officer. Siobhan Webb was part of a group on a bus travelling along the North Wales coast last year when the assault occurred.
As the bus arrived in Abergele, the driver stood up to request that the defendant and her group control their behaviour. They were drinking vodka and disturbing other passengers, Caernarfon Crown Court was told.
Webb leaned into the driver’s face in an apparent attempt to “kiss” him. He recoiled and then she seized his genitals, stated Catherine Elvin, the prosecutor. The driver asked Webb and the group to exit the bus and the police were called.
Upon the arrival of the officers, the defendant then verbally attacked a female officer – using racist and homophobic language – before spitting at her, reports North Wales Live.
She continued to swear at the police during her arrest, Ms Elvin reported. Webb, 37, of Rhodfa Cae Uchel, Aberaman, Aberdare, who appeared via video link from prison, admitted to sexual assault, a racially aggravated public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker.
In a personal victim statement, the bus driver expressed feeling “anxious and distressed”, stating he was merely trying to assist the group, being “concerned for their wellbeing”.
The officer said that the incident made her feel “inferior” and she interpreted all of Webb’s comments as “an attack on her personal identity”. She was “appalled” by the spitting and had never experienced being spat at before.
The court was informed that the defendant had 28 convictions for 52 offences including public order, common assault and assaulting emergency workers.
Her last offence was in March 2026, burglary and assaulting an emergency worker, for which she was given a two-year prison sentence.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said that she had penned a letter of apology to the court, the bus driver and police officer. She had problems with alcohol and drugs, but had participated in a programme in prison to address this.
Webb desired a tag to assist her in stopping drinking and accommodation that could support her upon release, so she can take “a different direction”.
Judge Timothy Petts described her behaviour as “appalling” and sentenced Webb, who was evaluated as “a high risk of harm”, to an additional 34 weeks in prison, up to half of which will be served in custody, beyond her previously announced release date, the remainder of which will be on licence.
“Neither the bus driver or the police officer deserved such treatment,” Judge Petts stated, but he accepted she was remorseful and was taking steps to change herself.
Webb was also added to the sex offenders notification register for seven years. She was further ordered to pay compensation of £100 to both the bus driver and police officer.
