Major airline cancels all summer time flights with 72-hours discover as warning issued
Beond Airlines has abruptly halted all summer flights, leaving passengers scrambling for refunds as the luxury all-business-class carrier faces mounting financial and operational pressures
A major airline has suddenly cancelled all of its summer flights, leaving travellers frantically seeking refunds as holidaymakers face doubt over their travel arrangements.
Beond Airlines has confirmed it will suspend all services between the Maldives and Europe, along with routes via Dubai, with flights not anticipated to restart until October at the earliest.
While the carrier originally cited a seasonal break on its European routes, it now seems the disruption is much more widespread. Flights throughout its entire network – including Middle Eastern connections – are no longer available for booking, indicating a complete closure rather than a restricted modification.
Passengers with current reservations are being contacted and provided with alternatives, including rebooking for later in the year, travel vouchers valid for up to 12 months, or complete refunds.
Nevertheless, the business class only airline quietly deleted a previous pledge from its website that guaranteed business-class rebooking on other carriers in case of disruption, in a development raising concerns amongst travellers, reports the Mirror.
The airline, which launched in 2023 as a premium all-business-class operator, had concentrated on luxury travel between Europe and the Maldives. Behind the scenes, escalating financial and operational pressures seem to be wreaking havoc on the luxury carrier, with soaring fuel prices making long-distance routes progressively costlier to operate – especially for smaller airlines with restricted resources.
The carrier runs a modest fleet of merely two aircraft, comprising an Airbus A319 and Airbus A321.
Additional indicators of transformation have surfaced online, with the airline stripping away sections of its website, including customer guarantee information and previous statements regarding expansion strategies.
Beond had formerly detailed bold growth plans, featuring fresh destinations for the carrier, yet numerous proposals failed to come to fruition – sparking questions about its capacity to resume operations following its summer break.
