Arsenal information: Marcus Rashford given Gunners inexperienced gentle as eight stars linked with switch
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sell as many as eight players this summer to fund Mikel Arteta’s transfer targets, with Marcus Rashford also handed a green light to join the Gunners
Arsenal came within two missed penalty kicks of achieving a historic Premier League and Champions League double-winning season. Now Mikel Arteta is seeking to refine his squad to pursue further silverware next term.
With the trophy celebrations concluded, the Gunners are examining ways to reduce their bloated squad. The likes of Morgan Rogers and Julian Alvarez have already been mentioned in connection with a bold switch to the Emirates Stadium, which could cost the north Londoners as much as £200million.
Nevertheless, player departures, alongside other transfer pursuits, also seem to be occupying Arteta’s thoughts. The Daily Star Sport examines the latest developments surrounding Arsenal.
Eight players up for sale
As many as eight players are anticipated to be made available for transfer by Arsenal. This clear-out will help finance moves for Arteta’s priority transfer targets.
Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson, who spent the campaign on loan at Hamburg and Brentford respectively, are two stars anticipated to be sold. BBC Sport have also reported the club will entertain offers for the likes of Christian Norgaard, Ben White and Ethan Nwaneri.
Furthermore, Leandro Trossard, who featured in the Champions League final, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus may also be sacrificed this summer, due to the trio entering the final years of their deals in July. If the previously mentioned list of Arsenal stars are offloaded for substantial fees, much of the revenue may be directed towards Arteta’s catalogue of transfer targets. Alongside Rogers and Alvarez, the BBC report that Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi represents an alternative option.
Marcus Rashford handed Arsenal endorsement
Paul Scholes reckons Rashford would be ideal for Arsenal. The England international is keen to secure a permanent move to Barcelona, but the Catalans have completed the signing of Anthony Gordon and are also reportedly pursuing Alvarez.
It’s widely understood Rashford has no intention of featuring for United this campaign, despite remaining under contract with the Red Devils. Should a switch to Barcelona fail to come to fruition, Scholes believes Arsenal, who have been connected with the Three Lions ace, would represent the ideal landing spot.
“Barcelona have a deal in place to buy him but I think they’re trying to get him cheaper,” Scholes said on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast.
“That would be a great move, a great move for both parties. I think Arsenal would be a great move for him and the club.”
