Two girls arrested on suspicion of homicide after man discovered lifeless in derelict TGI Fridays

The body of a 55-year-old man was discovered in the former TGI Fridays building in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on Wednesday evening – two women, aged 35 and 54, have been arrested

A murder inquiry has been launched after a man’s body was found in the former TGI Fridays restaurant. The women, aged 35 and 54, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday (June 11) following South Yorkshire Police responding to reports of suspicious behaviour at the abandoned building in Sheffield. the night before.

Officers uncovered the body of a 55-year-old man while carrying out investigations. Official identification of the victim has yet to occur, though his relatives have been notified and are receiving support from officers, reports Yorkshire Live.

A cordon surrounding the premises is anticipated to stay in position until this evening (Friday, June 12). DCI Laura Procter, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “Officers have been conducting various enquiries since the man’s body was sadly found, with the aim of building up a full picture of the circumstances which led up to this incident.

“I am particularly keen for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the TGI Fridays building in the days leading up to Wednesday, to get in touch with us.

“We will continue to work hard to get answers, and this has included arresting two women who remain in custody for questioning. If you have any information which you think could help us, no matter how big or small, please come forward.”

Anyone with information is urged to ring 101 or report online, quoting incident number 897 of June 10.

TGI Fridays has since sought to disassociate itself from the building, stating that the Sheffield Road site shut its doors in January 2026 and is “no longer owned by the company or any affiliated organisation.”

The Sheffield branch was one of 16 UK eateries to close after TGI Fridays’ UK operator fell into administration.
