Brooklyn Beckham explains why he left sister Harper on doorstep after ‘choreographed’ transfer
Brooklyn Beckham appears to have explained his absence after sister Harper, 14, turned up unannounced at his California house, as the Beckham family feud continues
Brooklyn Beckham has posted on social media after his 14-year-old sister Harper travelled to his residence – only to be forced to leave moments later when nobody came to the door.
The Beckham clan were in Los Angeles as Sir David received his star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. Just a brief journey from Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street is where eldest son Brooklyn resides with his wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, and Harper, the family’s youngest member, made an attempt to call on her elder sibling at his property.
Yet efforts at reconciliation came to nothing as Brooklyn and his spouse, Nicola Peltz, were absent, and the youngest Beckham did not enter the house.
Brooklyn now seems to have clarified why he failed to respond to his younger sister’s visit. Posting to Instagram just hours afterwards, he re-shared content on his Instagram Story, displaying him jogging around New York – indicating he is thousands of miles from his California residence.
For years, the Beckhams have been dogged by family divisions, with aspiring chef Brooklyn shunning his relatives. Earlier this year, Brooklyn notably criticised his family, claiming that they had tried to “ruin” his romance with Nicola, reports the Mirror.
He also declared on his Instagram account that he had no wish to repair his relationship with his family and had told his parents to communicate with him only via solicitors. However, in an effort to mend the divide, Harper was spotted arriving at Brooklyn’s home shortly after the Hollywood ceremony.
In photographs secured by Page Six, Harper was spotted making her way to the entrance on her own, still clad in her pink silk gown from the ceremony. Sources revealed Harper turned up ‘unannounced’ and she was the sole family member to undertake the journey.
A representative for Brooklyn informed Page Six: “That photographers were in place as the letter was hand-delivered says it all – this was choreographed for the cameras.”
The Mirror previously disclosed how Brooklyn has found it challenging to maintain a bond with his sister while the dispute with his parents continues to rage. The 27-year-old is presently not speaking to David and Victoria, or his brothers Cruz and Romeo, all of whom he has blocked across social media platforms.
Yet the circumstances are “very different” regarding his 14-year-old sister, whom Brooklyn has reportedly attempted to protect from the family breakdown. However, a source acknowledges that the “fundamental logistics of his little sister living under the same roof as his parents…. makes things very hard, contact-wise”, and the pair are not as tight-knit as they previously were.
Brooklyn’s estrangement from his family grows ever deeper, as he failed to attend his father’s Walk of Fame celebrations earlier on Friday. During an interview before the ceremony, David declined to address the rift with Variety.
He stated: “To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.”
Earlier this year, Brooklyn said: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” following allegations that he was under his wife’s control.
