Some of UK’s favorite pub crisps axed for good – ‘finish of an period’
KP Snacks has confirmed that it has discontinued four of its crisp flavours going forward – Beef, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Salted – and fans are not happy at all
Four cherished crisp varieties have been axed – and pub-goers are absolutely furious.
KP Snacks, the UK manufacturer of maize, potato and nut-based snacks, has scrapped several much-loved crisps. The crisps weren’t available in supermarkets, but shoppers could get hold of the snacks in corner shops, pubs and online retailers.
Punters flocked to social media to enquire where their treasured crisps had disappeared to, with many guessing that the snack had been axed.
A KP Snacks spokesperson told The Sun: “We have made the decision to discontinue KP Crisps Salted, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Beef as we focus on our wider portfolio.
“We understand these products have a loyal following and thank consumers for their continued support of our brands.”
The news was apparently first revealed in a post to Facebook.
A user informed the group “We Need to Talk About Crisps” that they had just completed the final ever production run for the beef-flavoured snacks and that the “company handed them all out” to staff.
The user described it as “end of an era” for the beef-flavoured crisps.
Numerous customers were devastated to learn the news.
“Noooooo, please say this isn’t true I get a box of these every birthday,” one customer said.
“They were the perfect cheap pub crisp with a weirdly legit beefy flavour,” said another.
A third added: “The flavour on the KP Beef/Cheese & Onion is better than anything else on the market!”.
One user remembered that the potato product was a treasured memory from their childhood. “My first ever crisp! 7p in tuck shop at junior school,” they revealed.
KP Snacks has now confirmed that the beef-flavoured crisps have been axed, alongside other varieties in the range.
The crisps were introduced as a budget alternative for customers and were recognised for being considerably cheaper than branded alternatives.
