Cleethorpes ‘stabbing’ as police swarm close to Grimsby Town’s floor with two hospitalised

Two people have been rushed to hospital after police swarmed a road in Cleethorpes close to the stadium of an EFL League Two side over reports of a stabbing.
Humberside Police confirmed the incident occurred outside Blundell Park, home of Grimsby Town FC, at around 8:45am today (June 25) and reportedly saw an altercation between two men.
The two men were both taken to hospital for treatment for injuries but only one of the men was allegedly stabbed.
One of the men, 26-years-old, is treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The other man, aged 39, was reportedly suffered serious injuries.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers are in attendance and road closures are in place following reports of stabbing in Cleethorpes this morning (Thursday, 25 June 2026).
“At approximately 8.45am officers were called to attend outside Blundell Park after we received a report of an altercation between two men, before a man was reportedly stabbed.
“Both men involved in the altercation were taken to hospital, with one of the men, 26-years-old, being treated for injuries which are thought to be life threatening at this time.
“A 39-year-old man was also taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.”
Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said: “I’d like to reassure residents that as part of our enquiries carried out so far, we believe this incident to be between people known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.
“Enquiries remain ongoing, including house to house enquiries, and trawling CCTV to establish the full circumstances.
“Members of the public can expect to see an increase in police presence and road closures are in place on Grimsby Road from Blundell Avenue, Grimsby to Nevill Street, Cleethorpes. We would ask motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.
“I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us.
