Glam climate woman sacked after slagging off colleagues and moaning she by no means received award

A glam weather girl has been sacked from her TV station after slagging her bosses off in an online rant. Brittany Begley, 44, doubled down on her scathing attack after confirming her departure and declaring: “And for that, I’m truly grateful.”
The telly star – who was the face of KPRC-TV’s weather coverage in Houston, Texas – went on a lengthy Instagram rant earlier this month in which she complained she had never received an Emmy award, one of broadcast journalism’s highest honors in the US.
And she slammed her co-workers, alleging they took an unprofessional approach to the job, including “not being mic’d up ten minutes before going on air.”
Alongside a selfie in front of her fridge, she wrote. “Sorry, but I’m tired of coming home to an empty refrigerator. Honestly, I don’t belong here anymore. Too many things I just can’t ignore…
“Never won an Emmy because the markets I worked in never thought traffic reporting was worthy of one. After the pandemic, I told myself that when I die, at least I’ll know I stood for something – even if the industry never technically thought I was worthy.
“Only to turn on the TV and watch a team normalize bad behavior: consistently late, not even mic’d up ten minutes before a show, then put it on air as a segment. Where I come from, it’s a write-up, at the very least.”
Brittany said she felt “like a starving lion in a petting zoo”, adding she was “better than this” and stood “for something real”. She went on: “Can’t even mic up on time because a lack of discipline. And that’s how I know I can win.
“I won’t apologize for wanting a bigger share of this market so I can actually advocate for people like me. That way I can eventually hire the folks like you and me — qualified, driven, but hearing nothing back.”
Brittany, who joined the station in 2024, appeared on air since her rant went viral and made headlines in the US and even posted work clips on her Instagram. She insisted that she didn’t mean to insult her colleagues.
But she followed up with a post earlier this week in which she said: “No longer with KPRC — and for that, I’m truly grateful. I believe in accountability. This conversation won’t be going away anytime soon.
“I’m dedicating at least a weekly series to this as I compete in the digital sales and marketing space with integrity. Higher quality, better value, lower price.
“I’m proving to you that I operate with integrity through my actions and the emails showing how hard I worked to bring positive impact to KPRC. I wouldn’t say it if I couldn’t prove it.”
She told local newspaper the Houston Chronicle: “I do disagree with how the weekends were handled after several attempts to make it better for all.”
Back in May, she shared a photo of her slumped over her desk at work and penned: “Hungry, but can barely afford groceries. It’s a real reality. I know because at times during my career, that was me. Even after the pandemic, I’m still recovering financially.
“But I really can’t tell you how many days I’ve hung my head low because someone made me feel small—whether it was my clothes, my talent, or lack thereof. Meanwhile, I was a young mom working 7 days a week.”
