Bradford crash leaves two useless after automobile plunges 100ft off edge as man arrested

A 23-year-old man has been named locally as one of two people to have died following a fatal crash in Bradford, West Yorkshire, after a car left the road and plummeted 100ft

A fundraising campaign has been initiated in memory of a man identified locally as one of two individuals who tragically lost their lives following a 100ft crash in Bradford.

Imath Uddin Choudhury, 23, has been named in a JustGiving fundraiser set up in his honour. According to the fundraiser, he passed away on Wednesday (July 1) after spending just over a week in hospital with serious injuries sustained from the crash.

The incident involved an Audi A3 convertible that left the road on Hawksworth Road in Baildon, near the junction with Potter Brow Road, at around 7.24pm on Monday, June 22.

Another individual, aged 20, also died at the scene.

The 24-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and a 23-year-old passenger received minor injuries, as previously reported by West Yorkshire Police.

The fundraiser, initiated by the Grains Of Hope Foundation on JustGiving, has already exceeded its £2,000 target as of Wednesday, reports Yorkshire Live.

The foundation stated: “In memory of Imad, Grains of Hope Foundation is raising funds to support the most needy families in The Gambia and provide water pumps in Pakistan, helping those in need while creating a source of ongoing reward for him, by the will of Allah.”

They further added: “May Allah forgive Imath Choudhury, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, widen and illuminate his grave, and make every donation a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for him. Ameen.”

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old lad tragically lost his life after entering the River Wye while participating in a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, it has been confirmed.

The young man’s body was discovered on Tuesday evening following a multi-agency rescue operation. On June 30, police, fire services and mountain rescue were summoned to the River Wye at Glasbury, in Powys, following reports that the lad had entered the water and subsequently disappeared.

After hours of searching, police located a man’s body. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award confirmed on Wednesday evening that the teenager had been undertaking a DofE expedition in Powys when the heartbreaking incident took place.

They stated they would be collaborating with the relevant authorities to determine how the incident occurred.

A spokesperson for DofE said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that a young person has drowned while on a DofE expedition in Powys, Wales.

“Our thoughts are with the young person’s family, together with all those who were taking part. We will do everything we can to support them at this difficult time.
