Wimbledon star slammed for breaking gown code as merchandise noticed from behind
Spanish tennis player Jessica Bouzas received an official umpire warning during her Wimbledon match after her black undershirt became visible, breaching the tournament’s strict all-white dress code policy
Wimbledon player Jessica Bouzas received a sharp reprimand from the umpire after she nearly violated the tournament’s rigorous all-white clothing regulations. The Spanish competitor comfortably beat Anastasia Potapova 6-2, 6-3 on Court 17 but a feature of her kit drew the official’s notice.
Bouzas sported a black vest that became marginally visible on her lower back near the conclusion of her triumph, leading the official to caution her to ensure it doesn’t occur again.
The player remained on court looking up at the umpire in her chair as spectators started to leave the stands. The world No. 52, who progressed to the fourth round at Wimbledon last year, subsequently clarified what the discussion concerned, reports the Mirror.

“A problem here is that they are very strict with many things,” Bouzas told Movistar Plus Deportes. “I think it was a bit of black here, and you can’t do that, so I will have to sort it out. But yes, they are very strict with things like this, so now I’ll see how I can fix it.”
Wimbledon’s rigid rules explicitly state: “Competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court surround. White does not include off white or cream.
“There should be no solid mass or panel of colouring. A single trim of colour around the neckline and around the cuff of the sleeves is acceptable but must be no wider than one centimetre (10mm).
“Colour contained within patterns will be measured as if it is a solid mass of colour and should be within the one centimetre (10mm) guide. Logos formed by variations of material or patterns are not acceptable.”
The guidelines do make one exception, allowing female players to wear “solid, mid/dark-coloured undershorts provided they are no longer than their shorts or skirt”.
Bouzas’ victory over Potapova paved the way for a second-round showdown with Dayana Yastremska. She required three sets against the Ukrainian but emerged victorious 6-3, 6-7, 6-2.
