Man ‘lower off his personal penis and sliced throat’ after ‘excessive’ quantity of meth
WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: Man bled to death after cutting off his own penis with a pen knife wgho was on a fatal amount of meth during the horror, a medical report has discovered
A man who cut his own penis off with a pen knife and subsequently bled to death was on a lethal dose of meth, a medical report has said.
Ryan Dexter Sutherland died after he stabbed himself more than 20 times and tried to chop off his arm during a meth fuelled frenzy in downtown Los Angeles. A medical report into the 31-year-old’s death ruled he died from “sharp force” self-inflicted injuries to his neck, right forearm and wrist, chest and genitalia.
The man is said to have used a non-serrated pen-knife around two inches long and three-quarters-inch wide to deliver the fatal injuries to himself in his final moments. The wound he inflicted to his genitalia was nearly a foot in circumference as it left his testes exposed and led his penis to be “degloving” from his body, the report stated.
It is understood the man died from self-inflicted wounds to an artery and vein in his right arm alongside injuries to his jugular vein and trachea in his neck. A toxicology report found Sutherland had an extreme amount of methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death and also alongside MDMA.
Despite the substances being noted as not responsible for his death, he possessed a deadly blood concentration of 1.9 ug/mL for meth and .24 ug/mL for amphetamines. During the ordeal leading to Sutherland’s death in the early hours of March 7 a 7/11 security guard spotted the horror and called the police.
Officers rushed to the scene and found blood-soaked clothes hurled across the pavement alongside pools of blood. Sutherland was later identified by his fingerprints and his parents were notified about his death. His aunt stated to police that the man had never previously threatened or attempted to take his own life.
The 31-year-old did however have a history of illicit drug usage and had previously spent stints in rehab, the medical report stated. Studies have shown suicide rates among meth users are significantly higher than the general population. Not much else is known about Sutherland and his background aside from the fact he suffered from ADHD.
The medical report into the man’s death described him as a 5ft11 black male weighing nearly 19 stone.
