Liverpool are in the midst of a summer of change and there have been plenty of transfer rumours surrounding the Reds, with updates on Virgil van Dijk’s Liverpool contract and a potential huge signing

With Liverpool experiencing another period of upheaval this summer transfer window, huge signings are expected.

Arne Slot was sacked and replaced by Andoni Iraola at the end of the campaign, with the Spanish coach now moulding his Reds squad, having already secured a deal for Victor Munoz from Osasuna. Liverpool have also parted ways with Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.

Additional whispers have focused on the potential exit of club skipper Virgil van Dijk, which would carry enormous ramifications for the Premier League giants. Today’s developments bring fresh information regarding Van Dijk’s prospects. Meanwhile, a prospective target for the Reds has been slapped with a hefty valuation. Virgil van Dijk update

Van Dijk is reportedly remaining at Liverpool this season, despite wild rumours otherwise, reports the Mirror.

The Dutch centre-back, who celebrates his 35th birthday this month, is in the second year of a two-year extension he penned in April of last year.

Far-fetched claims via TEAMtalk suggested the Reds were “prepared to evaluate any serious offer on its merits before making a decision” and indicated the club no longer regarded their skipper as “untouchable”.

However, links to clubs such as AC Milan and Fenerbahce have been firmly rejected by Anfield sources. It’s understood the club are preparing for the season ahead with their long-serving captain included.

Van Dijk featured in every minute during the Premier League last season and his loss would rock the Liverpool dressing room to its core.

Widely considered one of the greatest centre-backs English football has ever seen, the defensive colossus continues to be a vital figure at the club.

£100m+ World Cup star

Liverpool and other prospective suitors have been cautioned they may need to fork out more than £100million to secure World Cup star Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The teenager has excelled for Morocco at this summer’s tournament, having been instrumental in the African nation’s progression to the quarter-finals.

Following three outstanding campaigns with French outfit Lille, clubs including the Reds, Man United and Arsenal are reportedly pursuing the 18-year-old. He presently has three years left on his deal and therefore his club face no urgency to sell.

Lille president Olivier Letang has now suggested it would require a remarkable sum to surrender the club’s prized possession. Speaking to Eurosport, he said: “Many clubs are interested in him, but very few can afford him right now.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.

Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.

“He’s already one of the best midfielders in the world and still has significant room for improvement. He’s only 18 and has his whole future ahead of him. He’s focused on continuing to develop and winning everything.”

When questioned if he had established a valuation for the midfielder, Letang replied: “How to answer that question… Have I spoken, brought up the subject, given a figure? No, never.

“You have to look at his level. How much have players like [Elliot] Anderson [to Man City for £116m] or [Sandro] Tonali [to Spurs for £100m] been sold for, who are much older, but without room for improvement, so you have an idea of the value of Ayyoub, who has a unique profile at only 18-years-old.”

Speaking at World Cup 2026, Bouaddi said: “For the moment I’m only focused on the World Cup, I cannot answer to this right now. I’m really happy to know that some clubs are interested in me but for now I’m here focused on the World Cup with Morocco and we will try to give everything to do our best.”
