British excessive road favorite again from the lifeless with 17 new shops after sudden collapse
The brand entered administration last September, but has announced it is returning to the UK high street with 17 new store locations planned
Beauty chain Bodycare is making a comeback to Britain’s high streets with 17 fresh outlets planned to launch. The company went into administration last September and consequently, all of its 147 branches shut their doors.
However, it was revealed in April this year that the retailer would make a return after the brand was bought out of administration by an investment consortium headed by former Body Shop and Molton Brown chief executive Charles Denton.
On its website, Bodycare has now disclosed the locations of 17 new outlets, with ambitions to launch 15 within a 12-month period. The branches will include content creator studios, where fresh products will be displayed, along with demonstration areas and live broadcasting facilities, reports the Mirror.
The locations are predominantly in the North and Midlands, including Leicester, Northampton, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield. You can find a complete list below.
The first outlet to relaunch is Bodycare’s Sheffield branch in The Moor Shopping Centre, which will welcome shoppers back this month.
No exact reopening date has been confirmed yet, but a notice on the shopfront states: “Sheffield, we’re so back.”
A post made on The Moor Sheffield’s Facebook page in June reads: “Bodycare, the value health and beauty retailer, is making its return to the high street – and we’re thrilled that The Moor Sheffield will be the first out of six new stores to open.
“Shoppers can look forward to a brand-new “Bodycare Studio” format, including in-store demonstration zones, feature screens, live broadcast studios and creator spaces as part of a wider digital-first strategy.
“An official opening date is coming soon – stay tuned for further details as we look forward to welcoming customers back!”.
Bodycare has hinted at the prospect of more new stores, although no additional locations have been disclosed so far. On its website, it says: “We’re just getting started.”
Established in 1970 on a Lancashire market stall by Graham and Margaret Blackledge, Bodycare was under the ownership of investment firm Baaj Capital when it went under.
It stocks products from renowned beauty brands such as L’Oreal, Nivea and Elizabeth Arden.
