Woman ‘sexually assaulted’ in sea at Bournemouth seaside after ‘man swam as much as household’
Dorset Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a woman in her 40s was allegedly sexually assaulted in the sea at Bournemouth beach near the pier on Sunday, July 12
A woman has reportedly been sexually assaulted while swimming at a popular seaside resort. An appeal for witnesses has been launched by the police following the alleged sexual assault in Bournemouth.
The incident is said to have occurred around 6pm on Sunday, July 12, in the sea off Bournemouth beach, to the left of the pier. A man is alleged to have “swam up to a family group and touched a woman in her 40s on the bottom over her clothing”, according to Dorset Police.
The force provided a description of the suspect, stating: “The man is described as of Indian descent, about five feet six inches tall and with black hair and a small stubbly beard.
“He was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.”
Officers responded to the scene and a 35-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and subsequently released on conditional bail, the force announced in a statement issued today.
Police Constable Matthew McGuinness, of Dorset Police, stated: “We believe that there were independent witnesses that saw the incident and I am appealing for them to please contact us as this could assist our investigation.”, reports the Express.

Meanwhile, police are searching for a white man wearing an England football shirt after a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted in a UK town.
Hampshire Police is appealing appealing for witnesses and information following a report of a sexual assault in Aldershot. Officers received a report that a woman in her 30s was approached by a man unknown to her on Alison’s Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday, July 11.
The man allegedly kissed the woman, pulled her hair and punched her in the chest. The woman said she was able to run away from the man and was later taken to hospital to receive treatment for a broken finger, concussion, bruising and scratches.
The man is described as being white, aged between 20 and 30, 6ft tall, of medium build with light brown hair. He was wearing a blue England football shirt.
Police assured the public that they are taking this report extremely seriously and there will be an increased police presence in the area as officers carry out enquiries.
