Tesco has announced a change to UK supermarkets as it introduces a fresh policy for customers shopping with their youngsters.
Running until September 1, Tesco is expanding its Kids Eat Free initiative, enabling thousands more households to access complimentary meals for their little ones.
The Café and The Coffee Shops programme will operate across more than 330 participating Tesco outlets until 1 September, throughout the week. The Café and The Coffee Shop at Tesco will be providing one complimentary Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal alongside any full-price adult purchase when customers present their Tesco Clubcard.

The grown-up purchase could be something as modest as an apple priced at merely 65p, Tesco, which operates branches across Birmingham, has verified. Via its Free Fruit and Veg for Schools initiative, Tesco is also backing children’s nutrition throughout the year, it states.
The retailer, which competes with the likes Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, plus Asda, reports this year witnessed over 500 schools receiving complimentary fruit and vegetables to assist pupils in achieving more of their 5-a-day.
The Fruit and Veg for Schools initiative, alongside Free Fruit for Kids in outlets and Tesco Fruit and Veg Grants, will support the supermarket in reaching its goal of helping a million youngsters incorporate more fruit and vegetables into their meals, reports Birmingham Live.

Its terms and conditions specify: “One free Kids’ Hot Meal Deal, Kids’ Breakfast or Kids’ Pick ‘N’ Mix Deal per any adult item purchased in The Café for dine-in only, a child must be present.
“Clubcard/app required. Scotland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, and The Coffee Shop: 25/06/26–01/09/26 (includes weekends).
“Offer is subject to availability and kids’ meals may vary in Cafés. Kids’ Pick ‘N’ Mix Deal may be the only option available in some Cafés, this consists of 1 sandwich, 1 drink, 1 fruit item, and a choice of 2 snacks.
“Cannot be used with other promotions, vouchers or rewards. The Café has the right to withdraw or amend the offer.”
