Spider-Man star Tom Holland says supporting Spurs ‘one of many worst selections I’ve ever made’

Spider-Man star Tom Holland isn’t quite so super when it comes to supporting his favourite football club. In fact the British actor – back on screens as the Marvel web-slinger in Brand New Day – might make as many enemies as his character after he revealed a huge Premier League faux pas.
Tom, who is a Tottenham Hotspur supporter revealed: “I tell you what, I will say, I watched the Champions League final. I watched it with my brother, and I’ll get crucified for saying this as a Tottenham fan, but I supported Arsenal.”
Seems Tom regrets his allegiance to Spurs which began by accident as a child when the family saw how bad they were doing. He told the Dish from Waitrose podcast: “I was always more into rugby. I played rugby as a kid, and I just always used to follow more of the rugby.

“But when I started working on film sets, it’s all anyone talks about on a Monday morning is the football over the weekend. So, I kind of got a bit tired of being left out.
“But the reason that there is a divide is my brother Harry was the first person to pick a club to support. And at the time, I think it was, you know, Chelsea, Arsenal, and United were like the three biggest teams and he didn’t feel like he could support one of those teams because didn’t want to be a glory hunter you know.
“And then when my brother Sam decided to pick a team, he said to Harry, I’ll support Tottenham with you. And I think Harry had been so battered by being a Tottenham fan because of how difficult it is, he was like, ‘don’t do it. Pick another club’.
“So, he picked Arsenal, and then Paddy followed suit with Sam. So, when I decided to get into football, I couldn’t leave Harry on his own, so I picked Tottenham. And it’s probably one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made.”

Spider-Man Brand New Day is Tom’s fourth stand-alone Spidey adventure but he has no plans to hang up his red and blue smalls for a long time.
He revealed: “It’s honestly like, it’s such a pleasure [playing Spider-Man] and it is not something that I think I will ever get tired of.
“So, for me, playing the character, being in the movies, it’s just been such a pleasure and I’ve really got to grow up, you know, on this new movie I had a lot more responsibility. I was welcomed into the writers’ room and worked with the director and collaborated on like what the film should be. And I think what I’ve really enjoyed is spending, you know, months and months and months just looking at what the fans wanted online.
“So, I felt like when I was in the room with the writers, I was like the representative of the fans. The movie’s great. I’m like super, super proud of it. It’s really fun. It’s super funny. But really, I think, the most emotional version of any of these movies that we’ve ever made.”
