Sky News interrupted its live coverage for a breaking news bulletin to do with Prince William and Kate Middleton. This came as the broadcaster had been showing footage of French President Emmanuel Macron visiting an emergency response centre amidst the devastating wildfires.
During his visit to the fire -stricken region in Gironde, a resolute Macron declared France was confronting a “completely unprecedented wildfire” – the “toughest since World War Two”. He confirmed a smaller blaze in Landes had been brought under control, but the battle raged on outside Bordeaux.
The channel momentarily broke away from the coverage to share a statement issued by Prince William and Princess Catherine for those impacted by the wildfires.

The presenter announced: “The Prince and Princess of Wales have been on social media in the last few moments saying, ‘Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires across France, Spain and the UK.
“We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, emergency services and volunteers working tirelessly in extraordinarily difficult conditions. These events are a stark reminder of the challenges posed by an increasingly extreme climate and the importance of protecting both people and nature.”, reports the Express.
Their message arrives as thousands have been evacuated from their properties in France while firefighters persist in tackling the wildfires ravaging the nation. Catastrophic blazes continue to rage across western Europe.
