Fellas who’re helpful with a toolbox and an influence drill are formally Britain’s greatest intercourse gods
Nearly half of those polled said being handy around the house makes someone more attractive meaning those who can fix a dripping tap could have a better chance of finding a lover.
Blokes who are good at DIY are officially Britain’s biggest sex gods, research shows. Millions of Brits would forego bulging biceps for a fella who knows their way around a toolbox and a power drill.
Nearly half said being handy around the house makes someone more attractive, while 48% believe DIY skills are a sign of intelligence. And almost seven in 10 reckon practical know-how is just as important as being good at maths.
It means a man who can paint a wall without splattering the ceiling, build flat-pack furniture without losing his rag or finally fix that dripping tap could have a better chance of finding a lover.
Birmingham was crowned England’s DIY capital, with 69% of residents saying they are confident tackling jobs around the home.
Southampton, Manchester, Leeds and London also ranked among the nation’s handiest cities.
But not everyone is as skilled as they claim, with one in four admitted pretending to know what they were doing with DIY to impress friends or family.
Millennials were the biggest bluffers, with more than a third exaggerating their practical talents, the Johnstone’s Paint survey found.
Donna Taylor, of the firm, said: “It seems knowing how to handle a paintbrush or work a drill can make you quite a catch.
“Being able to paint a wall neatly or build a sturdy chest of drawers are key qualities in a romantic match.”
It comes as two-thirds of Brits think basic DIY should be taught in schools.
Ms Taylor added: “DIY skills can show independence, creativity and problem-solving ability.”
