BREAKING Massive industrial property hearth erupts as ‘a number of explosions’ heard on the scene

A “huge” fire has erupted at an industrial estate as “several explosions” have been heard and emergency services have rushed to the incident.
The blaze broke out a factory in the Crowther Industrial Estate, Washington, and firefighters are in attendance. A witness has reported hearing “several explosions”, with the fire showing no sign of slowing down at this time.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service have stated: “We have five appliances and an aerial ladder platform in attendance at a factory fire in Crowther Industrial Estate, Washington. We advise members of the public to avoid the area if possible, and anyone in the vicinity to keep their windows and doors closed.”
Police officer are on the scene to support the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service in responding to the fire in Washington. A police cordon has been erected to help tackle the incident.
The public have been asked to keep their windows and doors closed if they live in the immediate vicinity. The fire service has also requested people avoid the area if this is possible.

A resident in the local area has stated they have heard serval explosions throughout the incident.
The local said: “I’ve hears several explosions and loud bangs this afternoon.”
They added: “From where I am, I can’t see the flames themselves, but there is a huge amount of smoke and it just seems to be getting even more by the minute.”
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The location is home to a campervan garage and a business which sells graduation gowns.
Another local has reported seeing smoke a staggering 10km away from the blaze.
Onlooker Ryan Wilson stated: “We were driving up the A19 when we saw the smoke, you can see it for miles – hope everyone’s OK.”
