United are said to have made enquiries regarding a potential deal for San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill, whose performances for Paraguay drew widespread praise during the World Cup, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The club seem unlikely to chase the 26-year-old following Darlow’s arrival, yet Gill’s representative Mario Jara confirmed that United were amongst the sides to express interest in his client.
“We are in discussions with English clubs as well as clubs in Germany,” Jara told DSports Radio. “There were enquiries with Manchester United. We only received two concrete offers. We are currently in the negotiation phase.
“The sale is close, the time is right. We have to handle it very carefully because there are many things involved. It’s ideal for him to take a step up in quality. He’s prepared and capable of playing in any league, without a doubt.”
Position on £42m star emerges
United could reportedly benefit from Juventus landing the signature of Bayer Leverkusen prospect Kerim Alajbegovic. The Italian giants are reportedly prepared to part ways with winger Francisco Conceicao, who has been mentioned in connection with a move to Old Trafford.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims that both United and Liverpool have submitted enquiries for the 23-year-old, with Juventus understood to be demanding a fee of between £34m and £42m.
A Premier League transfer is considered likely for Conceicao, who made 42 appearances for Juventus last season.
It is believed that the club have made the tough choice to sell the forward to balance their finances following Alajbegovic’s arrival from Leverkusen.
