Woman ‘sexually assaulted’ at UK nation park in ‘broad daylight’ assault as cops hunt man

Police have increased high-visibility patrols as they continue to investigate a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman in a country park in broad daylight.
The incident is believed to have happened in a wooded area in Newstead and Annesley Country Park shortly after 11am on Tuesday (August 4). There is currently an elevated level of police activity in the area, including a drone and dog unit, as investigations continue.
Detective Inspector Ed Cook, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “While incidents of this nature are extremely rare, they are obviously very concerning for the public. I would like to reassure people we have a large team of officers working on this investigation and we are doing everything we can to find the person responsible.

“The suspect has been described as a white man aged in his 30s.
“Public safety remains our top priority and extra patrols will continue to be carried out in the area.
“I’d also encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or concerning behaviour to us immediately.”
Anyone who saw anything or who has any information that can aid officers in their investigation is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police immediately on 101, quoting incident number 38 of August 7.

Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in for a “wonderful and generous” man who tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle incident on a busy Carmarthen road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A40 in the town at approximately 9.50pm on Tuesday, July 28, following reports of concerns for a pedestrian’s safety.
Police have reported that several vehicles, including a marked police car on patrol, collided with the man, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has since been identified as 44-year-old Gerard Trojanowski, a resident of the Merthyr Tydfil area. His grieving family released a statement saying: “Gerard was a loving husband and father.
“A wonderful and generous person with a good heart. He will always be in our memories. As a family we ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
In the wake of the fatal incident, which resulted in a section of the A40 in Carmarthen being closed for nearly 24 hours, Dyfed-Powys Police made a compulsory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), as is required by law in such circumstances.
Police have also issued a broader appeal for any information relating to the incident, urging any witnesses to get in touch by dialling 101.
