UK heatwaves hit Brits’ love lives as blokes cannot get it up – high suggestions for scorching intercourse
Lads could be battling low libido this summer as the weather has made it harder to get a good night’s sleep. The stuffy heat could also be affecting fertility rates and some blokes’ reproductive health
The heatwaves hitting the UK are also drying up Brits’ love lives as the record-breaking heat could be messing with men’s fertility levels and diminishing their sex drives.
Unlucky lads struggling to sleep in the record-breaking heat could be hit with low libido, erectile difficulties and plummeting testosterone levels.
Chester Maglo, Sleep Performance Coach at MattressOnline, has sounded the alarm on how lack of sleep could be killing men’s bedroom performances. The Sleep Performance Coach stated: “Testosterone is a hormone that drives libido, energy, mood, muscle mass and strength.
“Research has found that restricting healthy young men to five hours in bed for one week reduced their daytime testosterone by 10–15%. With three in four (74%) of UK workers reporting poor sleep quality, and the average adult sleeps around 6.4 hours a night, it’s worth considering the correlation.
“Poor sleep and low testosterone can feed into each other, creating a cycle that’s difficult to break.”
Men don’t only need to worry about the hot weather messing with their love life, as they also need to stay wary of the effects the boiling temperatures have on their balls.
The scorching summer this year could be impacting some men’s fertility as blokes’ testes need cooler temperatures to ensure sperm production is running smoothly.
Doctor Sophie Dix, Head of Medical Affairs at MedExpress, has pulled back the lid on how the weather could be hitting gents’ genitalia.
The Head of Medical Affairs stated: “In humans, the testicles normally stay around 2–4°C cooler than your core body temperature. This cooler environment is important for normal sperm production. While that may sound complicated, maintaining this temperature doesn’t require anything drastic.
“For men actively trying to conceive this summer, making simple lifestyle changes during hot weather could play an important role in supporting sperm production and reproductive health.
“With prolonged heatwaves becoming more common in the UK, it’s important men understand how extreme temperatures may affect reproductive health.
“Small, practical changes during hot weather could help reduce heat exposure and support sperm health, particularly for those planning to start a family.”
Doctor Dix has issued men with five tips they should take to protect their sperm health in the hot weather.
Doctor Dix’s Five fertility tips:
- “Go commando” at night: Ditching underwear can improve airflow to the testicles overnight and keep the balls cooler.
- Switch fabrics: Wearing loose, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen and staying clear of wearing tight trousers like jeans during the heat can help maintain a cooler environment around men’s crown jewels.
- Take regular breaks from sitting: Long periods of sitting, such as working at a desk or driving, can trap heat around the groin area.
- Avoid very hot baths: Jumping in the bath isn’t a complete no-go – as long as blokes are keeping the temperature to lukewarm rather than hot.
- Laptops off of laps: Laptops can generate heat, and using them directly on your lap for extended periods may increase heat exposure around the testicles. Too much heat around the area can curb bloke’s fertility so using a desk surface or even placing a cushion between your lap and laptop is recommended.
