Premier League followers can save practically £100 on ‘lowest ever’ Sky Sports deal

Virgin Media has cut its Sky Sports bundle ahead of the start of the Premier League season, not only saving fans £96 but giving them 516Mbps broadband, free Netflix and access to 200 channels for £1.70 a day

The Premier League is finally back after an action-packed transfer season and a new Sky deal offers fans the ‘cheapest ever’ deal to watch.

The summer has whizzed by as the Premier League kicks off in just days for the 2026/27 season. With football supporters nationwide rushing to sort their TV subscriptions before the opening match on Friday (August 21), one firm has slashed nearly £100 off a TV and Sky Sports package.

It’s not from Sky itself, but rather competitor Virgin Media, which has cut its premier Sport bundle from £56.99 to £52.99 – a reduction of £96 across the 24-month contract. The offer runs until September 9 as part of a ‘Summer of Sport’ promotion and represents the return of its ‘lowest ever price,’ Virgin claims.

It amounts to approximately £1.70 a day for over 200 channels and complete Sky coverage of the Premier League, EFL, F1, golf and more spanning nine Sky Sports channels. Additionally, it also features 516Mbps fibre broadband and a freebie Netflix subscription.

To get the deal, customers must agree to a 24-month contract with Virgin pledging to cover up to £300 of early exit charges from their current TV provider. It’s important to note though that Virgin has already confirmed its Sport bundle customers will subject to April increases to £56.99 from 2027 and £60.99 from 2028.

The eye-catching deal is just one on offer in the Summer of Sport promotion, with the Sport + Cinema bundle also receiving a price reduction. Lowered to £62.99 (was £66.99), this choice delivers everything from the sports package but adds Sky Cinema channels as well, reports Wales Online.

Virgin Media has knocked £96 off its Sport bundle in a Summer of Sport sale in time for the 2026/27 Premier League season. This includes more than 200 regular TV channels plus nine from Sky Sports, plus 516Mbps fibre broadband and a free Netflix subscription.

The third and final discounted package is the all-singing, all-dancing Max Volt bundle at £74.99 (was £78.99). While it’s certainly the priciest Virgin deal, it also offers plenty of value for money. In addition to all the TV, Sky Sport, Sky Cinema and Netflix access, it also ramps up the broadband speeds to a ‘blazing-fast’ 1,130Mbps.

Max Volt customers will also bag an O2 Classic Plan SIM with unlimited UK data, minutes and texts, roaming in 75 destinations and a three-month O2 Extra such as Disney+ or Amazon Prime.

Elsewhere, Sky has just announced it will air more than 1,500 matches this season across the Premier League, EFL, WSL and more, all of which are included with its £35 Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. However, some might find the £44 Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle better value as this also comes with five free streaming subscriptions including Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+.

The one missing element is for fans who are interested in European football. UEFA Champions League and Europa League games aren’t shown on Sky or terrestrial channels, with TNT Sports and HBO Max holding the exclusive rights to these competitions.

Many customers have rated Virgin Media‘s service highly on Trustpilot, where one praised their experience of watching football ‘without any buffering’.

“Virgin have been excellent,” one five-star review reads. “I’m working from home and struggled initially with poor broadband. Moved to Virgin and haven’t had any issues at all. My other half is also very happy because he can watch football without any frustrating buffering.”

Another said: “Really happy with the number of varied TV channels available. I love sports, mainly Premier League football, and am very pleased with the service providing Sky Sports. Entertainment channels have a great choice too. Haven’t had too many problems with Virgin and long may it continue.”

Some others did report issues with their own service, as this three-star review notes: “The internet just switches off midway watching a film or football match, it is very frustrating.”
