Meghan Markle could be stepping away from her supposedly very private existence to force her way back into the limelight with a “very exciting” new film project.

The Duchess of Sussex is said to have agreed a move back to the UK and is in advanced talks for a major role in Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix gangster comedy The Gentlemen. It is touted as a key reason why she and Prince Harry are returning to the UK from the States.

The 45-year-old mum and wife of Prince Harry is said to be in the running to play a major part in the hit streaming series, playing a temptress – something she is “very excited” about, according to sources.

The main character is a duke who formerly served in the Army — just like hubby Harry — and the series has even been advertised with the slogan “every heir needs a spare”, echoing Harry and brother William.

Meghan and Harry are said to be moving back to the UK imminently with their two children, for both personal and working reasons.

It is believed Harry is keen to come back and spend time with dad – King Charles – who is battling cancer, and is bringing his family, with Meghan looking to get back into her acting career during her time on British soil.

An insider told The Sun: “The gossip in TV circles is that Meghan could play the ultimate temptress, who puts the cat among the pigeons by seducing an aristocrat.

“The Gentleman would be perfect for her. It’s a big budget, glossy production and quintessentially British. And because it is on Netflix that gives it a huge global audience. In fact, it is one of the streaming giant’s biggest hits of recent years.

“It would see her star opposite Theo James, who plays Eddie Horniman, the 13th Duke of Halstead, and is a frontrunner to be the new James Bond. Everything about the project screams quality, but it is one with a bit of an edge too.”

Series 2 is set to drop on Netflix in the coming weeks, launching on September 3, but Meghan is said to be in talks to join for series 3 that will air early next year.

Other stars already signed up include Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson and Maya Jama. Meghan’s last acting role was in hit US drama Suits, which she left in late 2017.

She put her acting career on hold after marrying Harry in 2018 and said she had begun a “new chapter” — later becoming mum to Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.
