A sex-obsessed councillor nicknamed “Germany’s craziest councillor” is trying to stage a 50-person orgy in Mannheim City Hall, claiming it will smash taboos and boost tourism

A sex-obsessed politician who “loves being naked” is trying to organise a 50-person orgy – inside a government building. Julien Ferrat, 35, says it would bring him closer to voters than any doorstep chat ever could.
Mr Ferrat, a councillor in the industrial city of Mannheim in Germany and leader of the minor liberal Die Mannheimer (Citizens of Mannheim) party, has announced plans to hold a swingers’ event inside the city council’s headquarters.
He claims staging group sex in City Hall would smash social taboos and turn Mannheim into a “swingers’ paradise”, boosting tourism and cause a surge in the local economy.

He has even reportedly suggested the night could involve councillors getting intimate with members of the public – calling it “the ultimate in closeness with citizens”. Moreover, Ferrat insists there is demand.
He reportedly claims 50 people have already contacted him about attending. He is now whittling down the list. He told The Telegraph: “At the moment, the focus is on determining which of the citizens who contacted me are seriously interested.
“Some of the 50 people who contacted me are part of the local swingers community, so they are ‘legit’. Some are people I don’t know yet.

“This week, I will start meeting the ‘unknown’ people in person. On the one hand, it’s for making being a swinger less taboo. On the other hand, it’s for promoting my vision of a nudist swinger paradise in Mannheim similar to [French resort] Cap d’Agde.”
However, officials have not approved the party and rejected his initial request, saying it does not match his political duties. A Mannheim city hall spokesman said: “Based on the rudimentary information available so far, there are considerable doubts about the admissibility and feasibility of the plans mentioned by [Mr Ferrat].”
But Mr Ferrat, dubbed Germany’s craziest councillor, is pushing on and argues there are no local bylaws explicitly banning orgies in government buildings.
He has vowed to fight it all the way, claiming that if the council blocks him permanently he is ready to take the case to Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court, Junge Freiheit reported.
Ferrat previously stripped completely naked outside City Hall in protest at budget rules. And in 2025 he sparked fury by placing an official government advert featuring a photo of himself nude on a beach, inviting locals on a taxpayer-funded “political education trip” to Cap d’Agde – later claiming group sex took place on the getaway.
