Major replace on ‘lacking’ ex-Premier League star as team-mate speaks out on search

Akos Buzsaky was reported as a missing person in Hungary, with the reason for his disappearance unknown, as a former Plymouth Argyle team-mate has now said the ex-QPR midfielder is ‘doing alright’

A former team-mate of ex-Premier League star Akos Buzsaky has reassured fans on social media that the 44-year-old is ‘doing alright’ following reports he had gone missing in Hungary.

Buzsaky, a gifted midfield maestro, clocked up a total of 105 appearances for Plymouth Argyle between 2005 and 2007 after transferring from Portuguese outfit Porto. He later showcased his skills in the Premier League with Queens Park Rangers and earned 20 caps for Hungary at senior international level.

One of his team-mates during his stint at Argyle was Hasney Aljofree, who posted an update about Buzsaky being missing on Facebook on Wednesday evening (August 26).

Aljofree wrote: “For all concerned. Akos is ok. He’s alive and doing alright. I have no more information only that to pass this on to everyone who has been worried about him.”

Hungarian Police have yet to verify Aljofree’s comments that Buzsaky is ‘doing alright’, reports Plymouth Live.

Police records in Hungary say officers have been looking to Buzsáky, who is a former Hungary international, since August 18.

According to L’Équipe in France, the mother of Buzsáky’s two children raised concerns about his whereabouts and is believed to have contacted police.

Buzsáky’s reportedly no longer lives with the mother and reportedly spends a lot of his time working aboard.

Local news outlet Blikk reached out to Buzsáky’s father about the search and learned he had not been informed of his son’s disappearance. He told the outlet that his son had since been working as construction contractor in Greece and don’t speak as often as they once did.

His dad, Ákos Buzsáky Sr, told the publication: “I didn’t know that the police were also looking for my son. He basically spends a lot of time in Greece, where he works as a construction contractor.

“He spent almost the entire last year there. Since we don’t live under the same roof, it’s not surprising that we only speak less often. The last time I spoke to him was last week, when he was at home.”

Both Argyle and QPR had earlier shared messages about Buzsaky on their official accounts on Wednesday.

The Pilgrims expressed: “We are concerned to hear that Ákos Buzsáky has been reported missing. Everybody at Plymouth Argyle is hoping that Ákos is found safe soon.”

QPR voiced: “The club are concerned to learn that R’s favourite Akos Buzsaky has been reported missing. We’re all praying he’s found safe and well.”
