Police swarm Toby Carvery as ‘man is tasered in automobile park’

Emergency services rushed to a Toby Carvery restaurant following reports that a man was “tasered” by police.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has since reportedly confirmed that a man and a woman have been arrested and remain in custody for questioning. GMP reportedly said that officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a vehicle stop at 7.45pm on Friday evening (August 28).
The eatery, situated on Chadderton Park in Oldham, had to temporarily shut its doors after several police vehicles and an ambulance were seen parked outside, according to eyewitnesses. Photos taken at the scene reveal a police car remained stationed there even after the restaurant resumed operations about an hour later.

After stopping to speak with the driver, GMP said he became “aggressive”, prompting officers to use a Taser. Police then searched the vehicle and arrested the man on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession of class B drugs with intent to supply, and child neglect.
A female passenger was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect, and both suspects remain in police custody while they are questioned. “At 7.45pm on Friday 28 August, officers conducted a vehicle stop after observing vehicle driving in an erratic manner,” a GMP statement reads.

It further reads: “Officers spoke to the driver, who then became aggressive and a taser was deployed. Following a search of the vehicle, a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect.
“A woman, a passenger, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect. They remain in custody for questioning.”
