Man ‘shot useless by his personal cousin’ after drunken row about whose Mexican meals was spicier

A man was shot dead by his own cousin after a row over who had the hottest chilli in their Mexican food. Nathaniel Cavazos, 25, was found in a pool of blood by cops who responded to reports of gunfire.
He later died of gunshot wounds. His cousin Ervin Joaquin Gutierrez 22, is accused of shooting him after the pair got into a heated argument over green enchiladas after night of heavy boozing. Gutierrez has been charged with murder and is being held in jail.
The pair are said to have spent the night drinking and cooking the traditional Mexican staple at apartment complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the US.

They then began arguing about whether the enchiladas that Gutierrez had were as spicy as the ones eaten by his cousin, an arrest report states. An eyewitness reportedly described how the argument quickly turned physical.
Nathaniel is said to have punched Gutierrez, who then allegedly pulled out a handgun and confronted his cousin, shouting: “We’re family! We’re family! How could you do this to me?”
He then allegedly shot Nathaniel in the back around three to four times as he walked away. Gutierrez is then said to have fled the scene.

Police say the witness, who is believed to be a cousin of both men, showed investigators a series of messages in which Gutierrez allegedly claimed his cousin had made threats to his end his life.
Gutierrez was arrested the day after the alleged killing and reportedly remains in custody. “Is he really dead?” Gutierrez allegedly wrote. “I did not want to kill him but I didn’t want him to kill me.”

Cops arrived around 11 p.m. and found Cavazos dead in a pool of blood on a walkway between apartment buildings, NBC News reported.
Investigators said a handgun belonging to Nathaniel was found at least 10 yards from his body.
