A mum has been accused of hanging her two-year-old child after she became obsessed with Lindsay Clancy and allegedly took her own child’s life

A mother has allegedly hanged her own two-year-old son, whom she dubbed the “anti-Christ” after she discussed baby killer Lindsay Clancy’s court case with her mates.
Corie Walsh, a 38-year-old mother, has been hit with first degree-murder charges after her neighbour found her son Barrett hanging in their family basement. The child was found with his feet suspended off the ground.
Speaking to investigators, Walsh allegedly stated she killed her child because he was the “anti-Christ” and the “devil”, prosecutors stated. The neighbour who found the child stated the boy had no pulse while she spoke to 911, attempting to administer CPR to the child.

The two-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, and an autopsy revealed he died of asphyxiation. The boy’s mother was reportedly found lying in a bathtub, fully clothed and soaked in bloody water.
The mother was hospitalized after police determined she had attempted to self-harm, according to court documents. Her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
The horror occurred in the US state of Illinois. Alongside Barrett’s body, three other children were found in the home, all unharmed. Prosecutors stated Walsh had become obsessed with the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy.
Clancy killed her three children in Massachusetts and was charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the January 2023 deaths. After killing the children, the mother then attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-floor window. The suicide attempt left her paralyzed from the waist down. Clancy has not denied killing her children, but claims she was suffering from psychosis.

The recent trial ended with the jury deadlocked. The trial has rested on Clancy’s mental state at the time of the horror.
Clancy claims she suffered from postpartum psychosis during the incident and had been overprescribed powerful psychiatric medication. The case has sparked a widespread debate on maternal mental health care, postpartum psychosis, and criminal culpability. Walsh texted her friends about the Lindsay Clancy case only hours before the alleged murder of her two-year-old tot. Walsh faces three counts of first-degree murder, according to court documents.

Father Patrick Clancy issued a statement through his lawyer, David Meier, stating “reliving this tragedy through another trial” would be “extraordinarily painful”.
Meier’s statement reads: “Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance.”
“The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful – for Patrick, for his family, and for all of us.”
