An Austrian man has been arrested after allegedly drugging his wife so men could rape her for cash, leading to her death in a case dubbed ‘Pelicot 2.0’

A woman has died from injuries after her husband allegedly drugged her so dozens of men could rape her for cash in a stomach-churning case dubbed “Pelicot 2.0”. Emergency services rushed to the couple’s home in Marchtrenk, Austria, on June 25 after the 39-year-old woman was found lifeless and covered in blood on a waterbed by her teenage daughter.
Her 51-year-old husband was drunk at the scene and initially claimed to first responders that his wife had suffered an accident during “rough sex”, Swiss outlet 20 Minuten reports.
Cops did not initially suspect foul play, but an autopsy and a checks into the husband’s phone records raised concerns.

Following her death, the husband is claimed to have disposed of the waterbed and deleted an app from his device.

Police allege he repeatedly spiked his wife over an extended period and sold her unconscious body to other men, including on the night she died.

The husband is said to have charged up to €500 (£425) per session and heartlessly referred to his spouse as “dead meat” in text messages.
He has now been arrested along with a neighbour who is accused of sexually assaulting the victim twice, including hours before she died.
Disturbing text messages reported by local outlet Krone appear to show the pair openly plotting the abuse.
On the night of her death, the husband allegedly sent the neighbour a photo of his passed-out wife.
In one text, the husband allegedly wrote: “I’ll get her properly drunk. Then you can have sex with her again. The way she was whining the other day was amazing.”
The neighbour is claimed to have replied: “She almost screamed. You cover her mouth again.” He then thanked the husband for “allowing me to use her”.
In another message, the husband reportedly said: “She’s not participating willingly.” He added: “If it worked, if I had date rape drugs, I would regularly make her available for you to rape.”
Just 24 hours before her death, the husband shared photos of his wife with the neighbour and said: “But he does know that it’s a real rape and she would never go along with it?”
The probe remains ongoing, with police investigating further suspects. Prosecutors have drawn parallels between the Austrian case and the high-profile 2024 trial of French monster Dominique Pelicot.
Pelicot was sentenced to a maximum 20 years in prison after admitting to drugging his wife Gisèle for nearly a decade so dozens of strangers could rape her at their home in Mazan, France.
Gisèle Pelicot won international praise for waiving her right to anonymity to expose her abusers, sparking a global movement against sexual violence.
