‘Diego Maradona is not lifeless’ as soccer god ‘noticed partying at gig’

A dead ringer for Diego Maradona sent social media into meltdown after being filmed in the middle of a packed gig.
One stunned punter spotted a stocky doppelganger of the Argentine football icon with curly hair among the crowd and immediately started filming. Unable to contain himself, he bellowed the line now ringing around the internet: “Diego isn’t dead!”
The lookalike of one of the greatest players of all time, named Gustavo, took a few seconds to realise the camera was on him before breaking into a grin and waving. The encounter happened at a cumbia music festival in Rosario, Santa Fe province, Argentina, as reported by creatorzine.com.

Gustavo, who comes from the La Matanza area, is not in fact the late football hero, who lifted two Serie A titles with Napoli, but died at the age of just 60 in November 2020.
The clip first appeared on TikTok and then exploded on X as fans declared that the late 1986 World Cup winner had somehow returned.
Gustavo already leans into the resemblance on Instagram, where he has 13,100 followers.
He describes himself as “a simple person with a great resemblance to our Diego Armando Maradona”.

His profile picture is an AI-generated image of himself hugging the Argentine icon.
After the video went viral, he posted a thank-you: “I wanted to upload this video in gratitude to everyone for the support given in this last period.
“I had the privilege of resembling the greatest of all time and how nice that you continue to remember him in the best way.
“Thank you for making me happy.”

Maradona died on November 25, 2020 aged 60, yet lookalikes keep surfacing and briefly convincing fans that the ex-Barcelona ace is still walking among them.
Gustavo has made no attempt to dodge the comparisons and says he is glad the resemblance keeps the legend’s memory alive.
He previously said: “Many compare me to Diego, something I can’t help but feel with emotion and immense respect.
“But beyond any comparison, the best part of this journey is the people I’m meeting and the affection I receive every day.”
