It has been an electric start to the season for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal as they remain unbeaten in the Premier League and cruised through the Carabao Cup third round on Tuesday evening.
However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement and Arteta has already set his sights on a potential new winger in the form of Real Madrid’s Rodyrgo. The Brazilian, 25, is currently on the road to recovery after an ACL tear in March – but still remains a possibility for January.
And he might not be the only new addition with Arteta finding a new position for a forgotten star. With all that in mind, Daily Star Sport has a look at the biggest stories from the past 24 hours in north London.

Arsenal might return for Rodrygo in the New Year – with the Gunners keeping contact with the Brazilian throughout his recovery from a serious knew injury.
The Brazilian suffered an ACL tear against Getafe in March, but his recovery is going well, and he is already back running as he works towards a return to action. Spanish reports suggest Rodrygo, 25, is confident of a return ahead of Christmas – which opens the door for a January move.
A move in the winter will all depend on his recovery, but, with his contract expiring in 2028, reports suggest an ambitious swoop of £39million could be enough to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
Martin Zubimendi poised for fresh role

Martin Zubimendi has struggled for game time this season, but was deployed at right-back for Tuesday evening’s encounter. The 27-year-old possesses experience in the position, operating in the same spot on the final day of last season when Arsenal beat Crystal Palace away.
The role may now present him with his finest opportunity of returning to the Gunners’ starting XI following Ben White’s groin problem in the 2-0 victory at Sunderland last Saturday. Zubimendi played a key role in Max Dowman’s second goal against Ipswich and also shone defensively, bolstering his case to take over the position from White and Timber.
Zubimendi, who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2025 from Real Sociedad, may now be poised to provide a solution to Arsenal’s right-back dilemma following his assured display on Tuesday night.
