A 600-mile stretch of torrential rain is set to batter 15 regions across Britain, according to a Met Office weather chart. Brits across the country will be reaching for the brollies as the downpours moves eastward on Wednesday.
The Met Office chart shows a huge mass of rain extending from Devon northwards through the Wales-England boundary across Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria and Northumbria into Scotland.
North Wales also appears destined for rainfall alongside Dumfries and Galloway, Scottish Borders, East Lothian, Edinburgh, West Lothian, Fife, Perth and Kinross, Angus and Aberdeenshire.
Weather maps produced by WX Charts also reveal a band of rain moving eastwards across the nation on Wednesday.

However there will be a north south divide with some sunny intervals in southern Britain while overcast skies will accompany the rain in northern areas.
The Met Office’s forecast for Tuesday states: “Cloudy in the north and west today with rain moving into north-western areas. Largely dry across much of England and Wales with some very warm sunshine in the southeast today.”
Tonight heavy rain is expected to slowly move across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. Tomorrow more rain is set to move across Scotland, Wales and England on Wednesday. Heavy bursts of precipitation are predicted as hail could even hit the east.

The Met’s forecast from Thursday to Saturday states: “Largely dry, bright and settled on Thursday. Outbreaks of rain and strong winds move across the north at times, but staying mostly dry in the south with sunny spells.”
It comes alongside the Met Office’s long-range forecast which states temperatures will be “above average overall” next month.
The forecaster states that the start of October will see “unsettled spells, periods of drier and more settled weather are likely, especially in the south and east, where they may last for a few days.
“Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal overall, but overnight fog and frost is possible during clearer, cooler nights.”
