Trump renames AI as ‘tremendous intelligence’ and says ‘welcome to the brand new world’

The President has sensationally claimed that we should rename AI to super intelligence to make it sound less “fake”, as he does not like the word artificial being in the name

President Donald Trump has continued his streak of renaming stuff that doesn’t need renaming by branding AI as “super intelligence” to make it sound less “fake”.

Following on from his attempts to retitle the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, and even rename the Pacific Ocean and the Lake Ontario in similar fashion, Trump has decided that AI bots should be called “super intelligence” as “The use of the word artificial makes it sound fake.”

Telling the audience at 81st United Nations General Assembly to “welcome. . . the new world of super intelligence”, the President hit out that those calling on more to be done to stem the rise in AI bots, with many experts from inside the industry warning they could pose an extinction level threat, declaring “I’m not going to stifle growth of something that will be bigger than the industrial revolution”.

He said: “The use of the word artificial makes it sound fake. It’s not fake, it’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful,” he added. “Welcome to the new world of super intelligence – SI.”

Trump has previously argued that whoever wins AI, wins in general, and he is staunchly against any form of regulation.

Trump appeared to suggest that these views on the new name are more than just his own musings, but will instead form the backbone on US policy, saying that: “From this point forward, all United States documents … will be changed to use the much more accurate term ‘super’ as opposed to artificial.”

Trump’s views on AI have long been staunchly anti-regulation, with the President instead believing that the only way to win the AI “war” against the likes of China is to allow for the unfettered expansion of artificial intelligence technology.
