A grieving family are demanding answers after a funeral home allegedly mixed up their loved one’s remains, leaving them with a stranger in her casket.
Bianca Robinson had gone to Hutchinson Funeral Home in Detroit, Michigan to pay respects to her mother Kimberly Moore one last time, only to be left stunned when she realised the woman lying in the casket was not her mother.
To the family’s horror, when they raised the alarm, a funeral home staff member casually admitted they must have “cremated” her mother “a week or two ago”.
“We need answers,” Bianca told KWTX News 10. “This is crazy. We don’t deserve this. She don’t deserve this.” Bianca explained that she instantly knew something wasn’t right after noticing a mole missing from her mother’s foot.

“I looked at her feet and I didn’t see that mole that my mom has on her feet and I looked at that man and I said, Sir, this is not my mama, and he said it just like this. He said, ‘I’m sorry. They must have cremated your mom a week or two ago. I’m so sorry’.” The family say that they still haven’t received the ashes that the funeral home claims to be her mother, leaving them desperate for answers. “I’m just trying to figure out where my mom is,” Bianca pleaded.
Hutchinson Funeral Home has since released a statement following the incident.

“We are heartbroken and deeply sorry for what Ms. Moore’s family has experienced. We have launched our own internal review to determine exactly what happened, and we will deal with it accordingly,” the funeral home said.
Despite having no remains, the family decided to go ahead with a celebration of life service for Kimberly on Saturday, but they are still desperate to find out what happened to their much-loved relative.

“I can’t understand this because in the end she left everything set up for us so we didn’t have to worry about her funeral money and all that,” one relative shared. “She left everything beautiful and I can’t believe that this happened to her.”
Kimberly’s cousin Geraldine Carr travelled from Alabama to Detroit to support the family through the terrible ordeal. “You can only grieve so much without saying goodbye to that person, her children are truly devastated. I’m devastated,” she said.
Bianca also fears for the family of the woman whose body was accidentally placed in her mother’s casket. “Whoever this lady is, I pray that her family come forth because they need answers too.”
