Police officer who carried out intercourse act in entrance of couple sitting in automotive put behind bars
Ryan Adams, 28, had been a student police constable for just three months when he drove to a car park and committed a sex act in full view of a couple sitting in their car
A Durham Constabulary trainee officer who was caught performing a sex act in a car park has been but behind bars.. Ryan Adams had been a student police constable for just three months when he drove to a car park in Chester-le-Street in December 2024 and committed a sex act in plain sight of a couple sitting in their vehicle.
The witnesses confronted Adams and recorded him fleeing the scene in his car. Adams subsequently accessed the force database to check if anyone had reported his conduct.
Officers tracked down Adams’ vehicle and arrested him that same evening. Adams, formerly of Langley Moor and now residing in Manchester, quit the force in January 2025.
The 28-year-old has now been sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.
Adams, who had no prior convictions, received 15 months imprisonment for misuse of police powers and a concurrent three-month sentence for outraging public decency, reports Chronicle Live.
In a victim impact statement, one of the witnesses described the incident as revolting, explaining that she felt stunned and experienced a hollow sensation in her stomach upon realising what was occurring, which made her feel nauseous.
Assistant Chief Constable Richie Allen said: “Ryan Adams’ actions represent a serious breach of the trust placed in police officers and fall far below the standards expected of any officer.
“As soon as we were made aware of the allegations, Adams was arrested and suspended from duty while a thorough investigation was carried out.
“I hope this investigation sends a clear message that Durham Constabulary will not tolerate this behaviour.”
