Spurs star despatched off for headbutt throughout mass brawl as Man Utd conflict descends into chaos

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs Premier League clash descended into chaos as Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for headbutting Luke Shaw

Rodrigo Bentancur has been sent off for a headbutt as Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham Hostpur descended into chaos. United been woeful at Old Trafford, and yet found themselves a goal to the good.

And Bentancur let his frustrations get the better of him when he flew into a scissor tackle, that left Luke Shaw furious. The England full-back rushed over and shoved Bentancur to the ground, who responded by springing up and leaning into Shaw with his head.

Both United and Spurs players pilled in as officials frantically tried to regain control of the clash. “It’s madness from Bentancur to get involved. The lack of discipline at this stage of the game is not what De Zerbi needs,” Gary Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Bentancur leans towards Shaw. I’ve done it. You wonder why you’ve done it after you have. It’s stupidity.” Shaw was booked for his role, but Chris Waddle thought he deserved more.

“Luke Shaw has stepped out of line there and has sort of held his head as though he’s been headbutted…If Rodrigo Bentancur’s got a red for it, Luke Shaw should have a red too. You can’t raise your hands. Where’s VAR?”

Spurs defender Paul van Hecke was also booked during the chaos.
