A recent episode of Channel 5s Murder Scene: The Incident Room focused on the sadistic murder and dismemberment of Stuart Everett who was killed by his flatmate for financial gain

A cop was “sickened” by the brazenness of a cold-blooded killer who calmly walked to KFC for a bite to eat after dumping his victim’s head into a river. Detective Sergeant Heidi Cullen said: “I’ve worked on many homicides before — this one will definitely never leave my memory.”

Stuart Everett, 67, was killed by his housemate Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, who fatally struck him with a hammer-type weapon before using a hacksaw to cut him up to at least 27 pieces. An investigation was launched after Stuart’s torso was found in a nature reserve in Salford, Greater Manchester, in April 2024.

Majerkiewicz spent a week disposing of different remains, which he had kept in a freezer, across Salford and Manchester, and he carried the body parts, including heart, kidney, lungs and genitalia, with him on buses inside shopping bags. CCTV footage would ultimately catch him moving remains around. It emerged he had murdered Stuart in order to take control of his bank accounts.

The disturbing case has now been explored in a new TV documentary called Murder Scene: The Incident Room on Channel 5. And speaking on the show, DS Cullen, of the visual evidence retrieval and analysis unit, spoke about following the killer’s chilling movements on CCTV.

She said: “He’s just deposited what turns out to be Stuart’s head in Blackleach Reservoir and then brazenly walks back into the town centre and into the KFC, which is quite sickening to think it means that little to him that he can go and eat straight away. It does knock you sick. It is like he feels like his work is done, I think, and it is time to relax and eat in this case.”

Stuart, a former NHS and Department for Work and Pensions employee originally from Derby, was born Roman Siemacki to Polish parents, and he first met Majerkiewicz while teaching English to immigrants from Poland.

In 2017, Stuart started to sublet two bedrooms of his three-bed terraced house in Salford, and Majerkiewicz took one of the rooms. However, the former fast food shop manager was unemployed at the time of the killing and was £73,000 in debt.

The new documentary also painted him as someone who had an “obsession with horror films” and he had tattoos of infamous fictional characters like Friday the 13th slasher Jason Voorhees.

After killing Stuart purely for financial gain, he took over his bank accounts, and messaged his victim’s loved ones on WhatsApp, to make it seem like everything was normal. He even sent Stuart’s brother, Richard Ziemacki, a happy birthday card. In the doc, an emotional Richard said: “I would say that was more horrific than anything else. To try and pull the wool over my eyes that my brother was murdered weeks before by the individual who was sending these messages…”

Majerkiewicz was eventually arrested on suspicion of murder and after a three-week trial he was convicted in March last year and was sentenced to a minimum of 34 years.

In total, human remains were found in six areas across Salford and Manchester, but only a third of Stuart’s body was discovered, something which still haunts Richard. He said: “I was informed that 35% of his body had been recovered which means that 65% of it is still out there. There’s always that possibility that one day the police will come knocking on the door and they have found some more of my brother’s body, which is horrendous. So there’s no end to it.”

After the killer was sentenced, Mr Justice Cavanagh said: “You acted in an almost unbelievably cold-blooded and macabre way, and showed complete disrespect and contempt for your friend’s remains.

“This denied dignity to Stuart Everett even in his death and greatly increased the pain suffered by his family when the murder came to light.”
