One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal assault at a caravan park in Essex.
Essex Police were called to the Valley Road Caravan Park, on Wednesday, October 14 after reports of a man making threats at around 9.15pm. Officers arrived to find a man injured inside a caravan. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not identified the man but have said he is in his 40s and from Frinton, Essex. Police issued an update confirming that a 39-year-old man from Ingatestone was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his hand.
It was also reported that one of the officers at the scene was assaulted as they responded and the man has been further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
“My thoughts this morning are with the family of the man who died last night. We will work tirelessly to get them the answers they need about what happened,” said Detective Inspector Tim Coyles.
Inspector Coyles said police have already made good progress at building a picture of what transpired.
“At this stage, we believe both men were known to each other. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and we don’t believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public,” he said.
“I believe there will be a number of people who saw or heard something last night that may be helpful to our investigation and I urge them to come forward. Officers will be carrying out enquiries at the site throughout today.”
