Eddie Hearn backs Oleksandr Usyk to beat Tyson Fury in their proposed undisputed clash

Eddie Hearn believes that Tyson Fury would be defeated by Oleksandr Usyk in their proposed heavyweight showdown.

Usyk regained his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles after defeating Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia last Saturday.

And the Ukrainian’s victory has set up an enormous clash with WBC heavyweight champion Fury in order to unify the division.

Usyk maintained his unbeaten record with a twelve round split decision victory over Joshua last weekend in the pair’s rematch.

The 35-year-old already became the undisputed champion at cruiserweight before stepping up in weight class to compete in the heavyweight division.

The Ukrainian now has his sights set on meeting Fury in the ring to become a two-weight undisputed champion.

And Hearn has claimed that he would favour Usyk if the pair were to face-off for the undisputed heavyweight title.

Speaking to The Dazn Boxing Show, Hearn said: ‘I would favour Oleksandr Usyk in that fight.

‘I just think he’s so good. They’re both very intelligent fighters. It’s actually not a very good fight to watch but it’s an intriguing fight to watch.

‘Tyson Fury doesn’t want to fight Usyk, but he may have to because the money is so big.’

A potential meeting between the two would be the first undisputed fight in the heavyweight division since Lennox Lewis held the title in 1999.
