  • Louise Kam, 71, vanished near a shopping centre in Barnet on July 26 last year
  • Mrs Kam, of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, had arranged to discuss a property sale
  • Her deserted car was found by police before a body was discovered on August 1
  • Mohammed El-Abboud, 28, and Kusai Al-Jundi, 24, both deny murdering Ms Kam

Two alleged killers accused of fleecing and murdering a 71-year-old woman appeared in court today.

Louise Kam was last seen by a family member near The Spires shopping centre in Barnet, north London, on 26 July last year.

The mother-of-two from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, had been driving a black BMW 3 Series convertible on the day she disappeared, which police recovered two days later.

Her body was found on 1 August near the home of Mohammed El-Abboud, 28, in Gallants Farm Road, Barnet.

El-Abboud and Kusai Al-Jundi, 24, both deny murdering Ms Kam and appeared at the Old Bailey today for their trial.

The court selected a jury and the prosecution will open the case next Thursday, November 17.

Oliver Glasgow, KC, prosecuting, told an earlier hearing: ‘Ms Kam was due to meet Al-Jundi whom she thought was going to be buying two properties from her – St Gallant’s Farm Road on East Barnet and an address at 221A High Road in Willesden, across the road from a restaurant owned by Al-Jundi.

‘Ms Kam called her ex-partner. She was distressed during the call and expressed concern that the monies she anticipated being transferred to her were not going to be realised.

‘That was the last time anyone spoke to her.’

Ms Kam’s son Greg contacted police after being unable to contact her after 26 July.

The prosecutor said that more than £23,000 had been transferred to Al-Jundi from Ms Kam’s bank account.

El-Abboud, of Gallants Farm Road, Barnet, and Kusai Al-jundi, of Wood End Road, Harrow, both deny Ms Kam’s murder.
