Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang posts cryptic message after ‘waving goodbye’ to Barcelona fans

Barcelona attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang posted a cryptic message on Instagram amid a potential move to Chelsea.

The former Arsenal star looked as if he was waving goodbye to the Catalan crowd at the end of their friendly 3-3 draw with Manchester City this week.

And yesterday, Aubameyang provided an update indicating that he was enjoying some time off even though at the same time his La Liga side are gearing up for a match against Valladolid on Sunday.

The Gabonese attacker filmed himself sitting in a car, before zooming in behind him on the famous Paris landmark the Arc de Triomphe. He captioned the Instagram video: “Sometimes people forget that there is life as well not only football!”

The veteran striker has attracted transfer interest from Chelsea over the last week but it seems that so far things are at an impasse.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have made several bids for Aubameyang – the latest reportedly being around £17million. But this is still some way short of Barca’s asking price of £25m.

It is thought Xavi’s side could accept the offer as the funds would allow them to register summer signing Jules Kounde, who arrived from Sevilla.

Aubameyang is thought to be open to moving back to the Premier League despite only being at Barcelona since January, when he departed Arsenal.

But he is not ready to start pushing for a move away from Nou Camp, even though his game-time has been significantly decreased since the arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

But the Blues are in a race against time to get the deal over the line – plus they are trying to wrap up moves for Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon.

The former is thought to be out of Leicester’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday and has even trained with the under-23s all week.

It is believed that Chelsea are set to make a fourth bid for the centre-back.
