England ‘naive’ to focus on Kylian Mbappe after they saw him destroy Poland on bus
Luke Shaw admits England stars watched Kylian Mbappe put on a masterclass in France’s World Cup destruction of Poland.
But Shaw insists his Three Lions won’t get obsessed with having to stop the superstar when the old rivals meet in Saturday’s seismic quarter final showdown in Doha.
Shaw & Co could be forgiven for feeling scared stiff after seeing Mbappe score two wonder goals in Les Blues 3-1 defeat of Poland in the last 16.

Gareth Southgate’s men were travelling on the team bus to their own match with Senegal when Mbappe’s brace reminded them all how he’s now the best player in the world.
But Shaw is refusing to panic – and believes it would be a mistake to focus on just him as England plot how to beat the reigning world champions to keep their World Cup dream alive.

Do you think England will beat France on Saturday? Let us know in the comments section below.
“We had a long coach journey, but for 15-20 minutes we managed to watch the end of the game and we’ve also seen them over the course of this tournament.
“Obviously we know what kind of team they are. We know what their strengths are and we have to be 100 per cent at it – otherwise it’s going to be a tough night.
“After his (Mbappe’s) performance there’s going to be even more chat about him.
“But we know he’s a world-class player and I think it would be very naive of us to focus purely on him.
“Like I said, they’re reigning world champions for a reason and we need to focus on them as a whole team, because they have brilliant players over the whole pitch.
“So we’re not going to fully focus on him – but it’s an amazing tie to be involved in and that’s why we’re here.
“We need to step up another level because France are a very good team.”
