An Airbnb host is charging £76 a night to stay in a flimsy-looking tent in his garden.

The ‘glamping experience’ in Brighton, East Sussex, is £65, plus an £11 ‘service fee’, for a single night’s stay.

It costs more than a night in a nearby four-star beachfront B&B, at least three hostels and even a luxury hotel.

The tent, which boasts a hot tub, parking, firepit and a ‘dedicated work space’, is available for anyone holidaying in Brighton and Hove from January 9.

It features a thin mattress, a couple of blankets, several mismatched pillows and two pairs of flip flops.

There is also the option of a ‘firepit soirée with traditional Asian dances’.

At that time of year the average temperature in the seaside city can plunge to as low as 3C.

For the pleasure of shacking up in the host’s backyard in the colder months it will set you back £69 a night for a weekend.

But from February 17 onwards prices hike to a whopping £76 a night over the weekend period.

For less than half of the cost of the tent, a mere £25, you could have a bunk bed in a 12-bed mixed dorm inside the Brighton Beach Inn or a bunk in a four-bed male dorm at the four-star YHA Hostel Brighton.
