Ex-Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘beaten up by hooded thugs’ during robbery
Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been beaten by a gang of thugs after they broke into his home and tried to rob him.
According to Spanish outlet El País, the incident occurred around 1am on Monday morning, hours after Aubameyang returned home following Barcelona’s 4-0 La Liga victory over Real Valladolid.
It’s understood that several men in hoods climbed into the 33-year-old’s garden, threatening him and his partner with firearms before beating them both with iron bars.
The couple are now believed to be safe and well.
Eyewitnesses said they saw the thieves fleeing in a white Audi A3 after stealing jewellery and other trinkets on their way out of Aubameyang’s house.

It comes just a few days after fellow Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski had his watch stolen snatched from his wrist while he was signing autographs from his car.
Thieves opened the passenger door and ripped off the timepiece, prompting the Polish striker to start his car up and chase the hoodlums down. The police eventually caught them and returned Lewandowski’s watch.

Aubameyang meanwhile is being heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League, with Chelsea currently in talks with Barcelona to sign him.
The Blues are in desperate need of a goalscorer and manager Thomas Tuchel is keen for a reunion with Aubameyang after the Gabon international scored 79 goals in two seasons playing under him at Dortmund.
