Keep dancing @marinsanna! Hillary Clinton sticks up for Finland’s party Prime Minister Sanna Marin

Former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has given her support to Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin by tweeting ‘keep dancing’ after the premier faced an onslaught of scrutiny for partying.

Clinton defended Marin’s right to let loose by posting a photograph of herself, dancing with a big smile on her face in a crowded club in Cartagena during a 2012 trip to Colombia while still secretary of state.

Clinton tweeted the photograph with the message: ‘As Ann Richards said, “Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.”

‘Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State. Keep dancing, @marinsanna.’

Marin, 36, the youngest prime minister in the world, quickly responded, tweeting back, ‘Thank you @Hillary Clinton,’ and including a heart emoji.

Clinton’s support comes after several days of controversy for Marin following the leaking of a series of videos of her dancing and partying with friends on a now notorious night out earlier this month in Helsinki.

Shortly after those videos emerged, one of Marin’s friends posted a picture of herself posing topless while kissing her semi-naked friend in the prime minister’s official residence of Kesäranta.

Finland’s party-loving prime minister (seen wearing white jeans) has been filmed dancing closely with a glamorous former model in yet another raunchy video (pictured) of her notorious night out. The newly leaked footage shows Sanna Marin, 36, dancing provocatively with Finnish social media influencer Sabina Särkkä, 33

One of the recently leaked videos showed Marin dancing and partying with a group of friends and celebrities at a rooftop nightclub in central Helsinki. Another showed Marin dancing provocatively with Finnish social media influencer Sabina Särkkä, 33.

Critics said it showed inappropriate behavior for a prime minister, while others – now including Clinton – have defended the 36-year-old politician’s right to enjoy a private event with friends.

Clinton has joined a number of other female politicians who have posted videos and images of them dancing and partying in support of Marin.

‘If letting off steam at a party is the worst thing your prime minister has done, then you’re a pretty lucky country,’ Fiona Patten, an Australian politician, wrote on Twitter next to a video of her dancing.

Meanwhile, Spanish politician Iratxe García Pérez tweeted: ‘How shocking!!! A young politician who does her job and enjoys her private life… Why can’t a young woman have fun? I can’t stand gender double standards.’

Marin told fellow members of her Social Democratic party that it was important to cut loose at times.

‘I am human. And I too sometimes long for joy, light and fun amidst these dark clouds,’ said Marin in a tearful speech. She added that she had not missed ‘a single day of work.’

But she encountered further blowback when a photo emerged showing Marin’s friend Särkkä, 33, posing topless while kissing her semi-naked friend in the prime minister’s official residence of Kesäranta.

Särkkä posted the photo on TikTok after the evening spent with Ms Marin and other celebrity friends at the official residence of Kesäranta.

The image, which was taken on July 10 after the group had gone to a rock festival,  showed the glamorous Finnish blonde and her friend pulling up their tops while kissing each other.

Ms Särkkä who was dressed in a cowboy hat, denim shorts and a leather jacket held her hand over her breasts while her friend covered her chest in the picture by holding a sign saying ‘FINLAND’ which is usually on Ms Marin’s desk.

Marin again apologized.

Clinton, who is 74, headed the State Department from 2009 to 2013 under President Barack Obama.

In 2016, she was the Democratic candidate for US president. Though heavily favored, she lost to real estate magnate Donald Trump in a stunning upset.
