Trampoline accident: Scaffolder dies in the arms of his mother and partner
A scaffolder has died in the arms of his mother and partner, weeks after a freak trampolining accident in which he landed on his neck while doing a back flip.
Rob Harcourt, of Stockton-on-Tees, near Middlesbrough, was left paralysed and requiring round-the-clock care after falling from a trampoline at a friend’s house last month.
However, in a tragic update, his mother Jackie Graves confirmed he had passed away in her and his partner Jade Higgins’s arms.
The 37-year-old had suffered a ‘catastrophic’ and irreversible neck injury and had to go under a second operation to ‘prevent any further damage.’

After being treated in Intensive Care at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, the scaffolder was last week transferred to a hospice.
Ms Graves said: ‘My clever, funny, kind and beautiful son Rob has passed away in mine and Jade’s arms.
‘Jimmy was with us too, holding his hand. Heartbroken doesn’t touch how we are feeling right now.’
Tributes have since been pouring in across social media with hundreds of Mr Harcourt’s friends and family describing their devastation.
A GoFundMe page, which had been set up following the accident, has so far seen more than £9,000 raised by almost 400 people.
In it, Ms Graves described her son as a ‘wonderful’ man.

Meanwhile, Amanda Jones, from Llangwyryfon, near Aberystwyth, whose husband Alan was a friend of Mr Harcourt’s, said he was a ‘popular guy’ and a ‘great friend.’
Previously Mrs Jones said: ‘Because of the GoFundMe and the generosity of everybody, Jade has been able to focus on what she needs to do to get through each day.
‘[She does not] have to worry about where the money for the rent is coming or money for the electric. It’s given her a little bit of breathing room to be able to focus on what she needs to do to be there for Rob and support herself and get herself through it.’
