Amir Khan slams Anthony Joshua’s team for not ‘taking the mic away’ to stop Usyk rant
Amir Khan slammed Anthony Joshua’s coaching team for not jumping in and taking the microphone away from him when the Brit may have been “concussed”.
The Brit’s improved and valiant display against Oleksandr Usyk was clouded over by his bizarre post-fight rant in the ring. As well as dropping Usyk’s belts out of the ring, Joshua unleashed a verbal tirade on the microphone towards his critics, before announcing himself as a ‘new breed of heavyweight’.
Joshua’s strange monologue was met with wide criticism, particularly from the likes of Carl Froch who accused him of ‘stealing Usyk’s moment’ and being ‘disrespectful’. And Khan believes this speech should have been prevented by a member of his coaching or background team.

“Normally, fights finish, you do a quick interview, and everything’s done,” Khan said to ‘The Overlap’. “They interviewed AJ, then they went on to Usyk, and then I see AJ back on the mic again, walking around.
“I thought maybe he’s having a little chat about, maybe, you know, what went wrong and that’s never really happened in the fight. But, then he was on the mic for a very, very long time.
“I started listening and I thought ‘you know what, someone needs to take that mic away from him, because he might say something that, you know, might harm him in the future.” There has been countless discussions on Joshua’s intentions and motivations behind his decision to get back onto the microphone.

But Khan believes Joshua may have been suffering from a concussion when he decided to get his feelings off his chest in Saudi Arabia.
“He was going on and on,” Khan added. “Like I said, I don’t know why his team did not grab the mic off him and say ‘listen mate, that’s it, let’s just go back’.
“I don’t know if he was concussed, if he was hit hard, I mean…Usyk is a beast and I’m saying he [Joshua] must have been hit hard in that fight.”
