Missing rugby star Levi Davis’s case handed to special unit after ‘disturbing new evidence’
Spanish police have handed the case of missing rugby player Levi Davis to a specialist crime unit after “disturbing” new evidence with “no logical explanation”.
Davis, 24, went missing in Barcelona last October – and he remains classed a missing person. Catalan Police, also known as Mossos d’Esquadra, couldn’t give more evidence on the case due to Spanish law on open cases.
The 24-year-old has played rugby for Bath and Worthing, but he was on a career hiatus to focus on his music. Davis had gone to stay with friend Richard Squire in Ibiza to work on music, before leaving via boat to Barcelona.

Davis had promised to call Squires after arriving in Barcelona – but after a call never came, Squires alerted the authorities.
One of the last sightings of Davis was CCTV footage of him leaving the Old Irish Pub in the city centre – just hours after he arrived in the city. However, a close friend has revealed a text message to Davis has been ‘read’ despite Davis being missing.
According to The Sun, a text was sent to Davis that said “Please come home. I love you. And miss you xx” was marked as read.
Gavin Burrows’ Line of Inquiry firm have responded to the claim, offering a £10,000 reward for information on Davis.
Burrows said: “The Spanish police pinged his phone to Barcelona train station on the night he went missing on October 29th. Then you’ve got on December 15 somebody has read the text. It’s either Levi himself – and we hope so – or it’s someone who has managed to get a hold of his PIN.”
Spanish police have confirmed Davis’s bank cards and mobile phone had both gone unused since he went missing, having also found his passport.
