Arsenal flop Willian training with Fulham as Brazilian left without club after leaving Corinthians

Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Willian is training with Fulham ahead of a potential return to the Premier League.

The 34-year-old is a free agent after recently being released by Brazilian side Corinthians and is mulling over his next move after receiving offers from several clubs. Fulham are understood to be one of interested parties, though they’re keeping their arrangement with the forward casual for the time being.

Willian is said to favour a move to London, where he and his family spent eight of the last nine years of their lives, though hasn’t ruled out offers from overseas.

The former Brazil international made over 330 appearances for Chelsea, winning five major honours, including two Premier League titles, and netting 63 goals.

He quit the club in 2020 after being denied a two-year contract extension, and joined rivals Arsenal on a free transfer. The move was seen as something of a coup at the time, though his stint at the Emirates quickly turned into a nightmare.

Despite impressing on his debut, coincidentally against Fulham, Willian’s form quickly nosedived and he ended the season with just one goal in 37 games.

He took a sizeable pay cut to join Corinthians, though would only last a year at the club, agreeing to terminate his contract again earlier this month with his family reportedly finding it hard to settle in Brazil.
